MAGNOLIA

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA

This project is situated in a quiet Palo Alto neighbourhood. The site offered opportunities to create meaningful connections between the mature trees with a balanced composition of built elements. The interplay of the natural and handmade elements define the garden. Enlisting the expert stone artist Edwin Hamilton added the sculptural touch needed to intentionally spilt boulders and realize the design of artful stone bench moments. Water adds tranquility into the sequence from bubbling acoustic features to the expansive rimless pool. Social and entertaining spaces rest defined among punctuated meadow like plantings. Well intentioned hedge screening gives the appearance that this suburban lot has no bounds.
